Greetings from Pastor Chris at Crossroads Victory Church in Montrose Colorado,

I want to share some important information with you and remind you what a blessing it is to serve God.  Our vision statement at Crossroads Church is:

Passion for God …Compassion for People

As we focused on this vision for the past 4 years, God has continually brought us new and incredible opportunities to express both our Passion for God and our Compassion for the people of Montrose and the surrounding communities.  Once again, God is calling us to expand our vision and our Compassion for People with a new and greater opportunity to serve the families and children in our community. 

We have recently discovered two very interesting facts about Montrose County:

•Colorado counties average a 14.8% poverty level, however Montrose County has a 19.8% poverty level.

•Crimes committed by juveniles have increased 20% in the last year and these crimes typically occur between 3 and 5 pm.

These facts about the economic condition of our families and the increasing trends in juvenile crime after school hours are disturbing and alarming to us.  You see, we remember how important that children are to Jesus Christ and to the future of his church.   We also understand how important it is that children grow into the leadership roles that God has ordained for them to secure the future of our community, our state and our nation.  We believe that Montrose kids are very important in God’s plan for this time. 

That is why Crossroads Victory is currently developing a ministry called “Montrose Kids Count”, which is designed to meet the needs of these kids and their families.  We are excited and encouraged by the opportunity to minister in a new and challenging way.  While we know that the needs of this special ministry will be large and demanding, we also know that “Nothing is Too Difficult for God.”  The team at Crossroads has been praying about this ministry for the past 3 years.  During that time God has been preparing hearts and plans and has already answered our prayers in a number of unique ways. 

We recognized early on that Crossroads Victory lacked the multi-purpose, recreational and classroom facilities to effectively conduct this ministry.  God has responded by opening doors and bringing together the necessary contacts to help in the initial planning, designing and some financing for the necessary facilities.  For example, God recently blessed our team by bringing a special individual with tremendous contacts and skills in seeking out available grant funds for these types of projects.  

Crossroads has been meeting with an outside firm to develop preliminary plans, costs and construction schedules for the needed facilities.  The plans currently include a multi-purpose building with a gymnasium, presentation stage and 12 classrooms.  The plans and fee schedule for this project provide for a 25,000 square foot building at a cost of $2.5 million, which is considered a bargain value due to the depressed construction market.    Crossroads is actively pursuing available grants for a large portion of these project costs.

Can I take a few moments of time to enlist your help with this special need and our “Montrose Kids Count” vision?   I believe that God has placed you and I in our current respective positions and had blessed us with a number and variety of contacts for just such a time as this.

1.Please be in prayer for God’s wisdom and direction for Crossroads as we continue to minister to our community.

2.Please consider sowing a seed into the “Montrose Kids Count” ministry. Remember when everyone does their part, no matter how small, great things can be accomplished.  With a $5 gift, it will only take 500,000 people to meet the entire need and some might be able to sow a larger seed than others.

3.Please forward this letter to others in your contact list or in your social network (I.e. facebook, myspace, etc) to give them an opportunity to see young lives changed for Christ.
